Contrasts the land from which they came to the land they are going to Possess.
Therefore,
shall you keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may
be strong, and go in and possess the land, that you may prolong your days in
the land which the Lord swore unto your fathers to give to them, and to their
seed, a land that flows with milk and honey. For the land to which you go to
possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you came out, where you had to
sow your seeds and water it with your feet like a plot of herbs; but the land
you are going to possess is a land of hills and valleys and receive water from
heaven. A land which the Lord your God
cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God watches it from the beginning of the
year to the end thereof.”
“And
it shall come to pass that if you hearken diligently to the commandments which
I command you this day, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all
your heart, and with all your soul, that I will give you the rain for your land
in due season; he first rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your
grain and your wine and your oil. And I
will send grass in your fields for your cattle that you may eat and be full.” More
