BRAGADAYJAH 731
Now the men of Ephraim questioned Gideon and said they were upset with
him, because he had not called on them in the fight against Midian. And so
Gideon asked them why were they complaining when God had in fact delivered unto
them the princes of Median, Oreb and Zeeb without them having to toil for it or
at no cost to them, and thereby their anger against Gideon was abated. And
Gideon came to Jordan and passed over it together with the three hundred men
and continued pursuing the rest of the Midianite army. And he told the men of
Succoth to give him loaves of bread for his men who were hungry and faint in
the chase after the two princes of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian. But the princes of Succoth questioned why
they should give bread to Gideon’s men since they had not yet captured the two
Midianite kings. So Gideon told them that when the Lord would have delivered
the two kings into his hand he would tear their flesh with the thorns of the
wilderness and with briers.
