Sennacherib Assassinated
Hezekiah gets 15 year extension
And so it came to pass that on that night, the angel of the Lord went
out and smote in the camp of the Assyrians, a hundred and eighty five thousand;
and when they rose next morning they were all dead corpses. So Sennacherib king
of Assyria departed and went and dwelt at Nineveh. And it came to pass as he
was worshipping in the house of Nisrock his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer
his sons smote him with the sword, and escaped into the land of Armenia. And
Esar-Haddon his son reigned in his stead. And in those days was Hezekiah taken
ill unto death. And the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, came to see him, and
said unto him. “Thus saith the Lord, set thy house in order for thou shall die
and not live.” Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to God and
asked the Lord to remember that he had walked before him in truth with a
perfect heart, and had done what was right in his sight; and he wept before the
Lord. And the word of the Lord came o Isaiah saying, “Turn again and tell
Hezekiah the captain of my people, I have heard thy prayers; I have seen thy
tears, I will heal thee. On the third day go up to the house of the Lord and I
will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will defend and deliver this city
out of the hand of the king of Assyria for my servant David’s sake.”
