BRAGADAYJAH 1112
Thence it came to pass that in the fourth year of the reign of king Hezekiah
which was the seventeenth year of king Hoshea king of Israel, that Shalmaneser
king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it; and at the end of three
years they took it and the king of Assyria carried away Israel into Assyria and
put them in Halah and Habor by the river Gozan and in the cities of the Medes because
they obeyed not the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His
commandments and would not hear them or do them. And Hezekiah king of Juda sent
to the king of Assyria and said, that he had offended him, and asking him to take
away from him the burdens which he had placed on him as they were more than he
could bear. And the king of Assyria levied against the king Hezekiah three
hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. And Hezekiah gave unto him
all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasuries
of the king’s house. At that time Hezekiah even cut off the gold that was on
the doors of the house of the Lord, and on the pillars of the temple and gave
it to Shalmaneser the king of Assyria.
