BRAGADAYJAH 983
David instructed the priest to anoint Solomon King.
David then called for Beersheba, Solomon’s mother and swore
unto her that it was his wish that his son Solomon would be the one to reign in
his stead to sit upon his throne. And upon hearing him, Beersheba bowed before
the king and said, “Live forever O king.” Then did David call Zadok the priest,
and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and instructed them to
take his servants and cause Solomon to ride upon his mule and bring him down to
Gihon. And once there Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet were to anoint
him king over Israel and proclaim him king by blowing the trumpet and
proclaiming, “God save King Solomon.”
And the king continued to instruct them that after Solomon was anointed king,
he was to be brought up to Jerusalem to sit upon his throne, because it was his
wish that he be king over Israel and Judah. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada
answered the king and said, “Amen. The Lord God of my lord says so too. And as
the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so shall he be with Solomon, and
make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord king David.
