BRAGADAYJAH 1074
The Axe that swam
It would appear then, that the snow white skin
is associated with greed and leprosy. Be that as it may, it happened after that,
Gehazi was stricken with leprosy and the whitening of his skin, the sons of the
prophets told Elisha the place where they were dwelling with him was too strict
for them. They requested him to allow them to go away over Jordan every man
taking a beam with him and that once over they would dwell there. And Elisha told them to go. And then one of
them asked him to be pleased to go with them and Elisha told them he would. And
so he accompanied them to the Jordan and when they reached the Jordan they cut
down wood. And as one was felling a tree, his axe head fell into the water. And
he cried and said, “Alas master, the axe was not mine, it was borrowed. And
Elisha asked him where it had fallen, and the man showed him the spot. And
Elisha cut down a stick and cast it into the water and the iron swam to the top
of the water. Then Elisha then told the man to put out his hand and take hold
of the axe head and the man did so, and recovered the axe head. www.chaberbooks.com
