Moses
recounted further wanderings and conflicts in the wilderness.
“After
remaining many days in Kadesh, we turned and took our journey into the
wilderness via the Red Sea as the Lord commanded us, and the journey took
several days as we compassed Mount Seir.”
Then
the Lord said to me, “You have walked around this mountain long enough. Therefore
turn and take your journey Northward and command the people, and tell them they
are to pass through the borders of your brethren the children of Esau who dwell
in Seir, and they shall be afraid of you. Therefore be very careful. Do not meddle with them, for I will not give
you their land, not so much as an inch; for I have given Mount Seir to them for
a possession. You shall buy food and water of them for money, that you may eat
and drink. For I the Lord has blessed thee
in all the works of your hands; He knows your walking through that great
wilderness; the Lord your God was with you and you lacked nothing”
