The Wave Offering.
“And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one
wafer out of the basket of unleavened bread that is before the Lord, would then
be put in the hands if Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and they shall wave
them before the Lord for a wave offering.
Then the
elements of bread, and cake, and wafer were to be taken out of the hands of Aaron
and his sons and burnt on the altar for a burnt offering; a sweet savor as an
offering to the Lord.
The word
wave in context, seems to have a literal meaning, the same meaning as when we
colloquially say, “You waved your fist at me,” or “you waved your money in
front of my face.” So Aaron and his sons
did wave the bread and cake and wafer before the face of the Lord as a symbol
that these were love offerings given to the Lord for a peace offering.
“And thou
shall take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration and wave it for a wave
offering before the Lord. And thou shall sanctify the breast of the wave
offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering which is waved and which is
lifted high, of the ram of the consecration, even that of Aaron’s and his sons.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons for a statute forever,” said the
Lord. More www.chaberbooks.com
