Now the Lord had spoken to the people, and made ordinances
by which they were to be governed and conduct themselves. So now he summoned Moses to ascend unto the
mountain to worship with Him.
Moses was
to take with him, from among the people, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy of the
elders of Israel ,
and worship afar off. Only Moses was to
go near the Lord, the others keeping a safe distance.
And so
Moses informed the people concerning what was going on. He told them of all the Lord had said and the
people responded as of one voice and promised to all that the Lord had said for
them to do. Further, Moses wrote all the
words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning and built an altar at the
base of the hill, surrounded by twelve pillars representing the twelve tribes
of Israel .
In addition
Moses sent young men of the children of Israel to carry and offer, burnt
offerings, and to sacrifice peace offerings of oxen before the Lord. And Moses took one half of the blood and put
it in basins; and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.
After that,
he took the book of the covenant, and read it in the hearing of the people, and
they said, “All that the Lord has said, we will do and be obedient.”
And
the blood that was saved in the basins, Moses took and sprinkled on the people
and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you
concerning all His words.” And the
people said, “So let it be.” Morewww.chaberbooks.com
