The Sacrifices of Consecration.
A bullock was ordered to be brought to the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation, whereupon Aaron and his sons were to lay their
hands on the head of the animal. Then the animal was killed before the Lord in
front of the tabernacle. When killed, the blood was to be put on the horns of
the altar, using the finger and the rest of the blood poured at the foot of the altar.
After that,
the fat that covered the inside of the animal, that is to say, the fat from
around the liver and the two kidneys were to be burnt upon the altar. However the flesh, the skin and the dung
shall not be burnt within the tabernacle, but outside the camp, as a sin
offering.
Then a ram
was to be offered as follows. It was
taken likewise to the door of the tabernacle and Aaron and his sons were to put
their hands upon its head. The ram
would then be slain and its blood sprinkled round about the altar of the
tabernacle. The ram was then to be cut
in pieces and the inside thoroughly washed and then the pieces placed back
together with the head. And the whole
ram was then burnt upon the altar as a burnt offering unto the Lord; a sweet
savor, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
And the
other ram was next taken and Aaron and his sons would place their hands on its
head. Then the lamb would be killed, and
the blood shall be taken and put on the tip of Aaron’s right ear and also the
right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand and upon the
great toe of their right foot; and the rest of the blood sprinkled around the
altar.
Then the
blood from around the altar and anointing oil shall be sprinkled upon Aaron and
his garments, and upon his sons and their garments; thus were Aaron and his
sons sanctified unto the Lord. The sacrfifice of Consecration
