BRAGADAYJAH 799
Boaz extends hospitality to Ruth.
So Boaz approached Ruth and told her
that henceforth, she was to glean as one of his maidens and not with the common
gleaners. That when she was thirsty she
would drink from the vessels which the king’s young men had drawn, that is to
say, she did not have to go and draw water from the well herself. And so Ruth
being a virtuous woman asked of Boaz, why she being a stranger not of Israel,
was being treated with such hospitality. And Boaz assured her that he had heard
of her virtue and steadfastness with Naomi.
How she had given up returning to return to her mother and father in her
own country, since her husband had died, choosing rather to remain with a
people whom she knew not before. And Boaz bestowed blessings on Ruth, in the
name of the Lord God Almighty, under whose wings, and with whose people she had
chosen to abide.
