BRAGADAYJAH 798
Naomi and Boaz
Now there was a rich man, a man of high
standing of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz. He was kin to Naomi’s
husband. Now Ruth told Naomi that she
wanted to go to the field and glean corn as was the law and custom in those
days, and Naomi told her to go.
Accordingly Naomi went into the field to glean after the reapers had
passed through. And she was in the field of Boaz. Soon after Boaz who was away
returned and greeted his reapers, asking them how they fared and imparting God’s
blessing on them; and the reapers wished blessings on their master in return.
Then Boaz noticed Ruth and asked his servants who she was; and they told him
her name was Ruth, and she was a Moabitess that came out of the land of Moab
with Naomi when she returned to Bethlehem. And they explained to Moab that she
had come in the morning and asked permission to glean in the field; and having
been granted permission she had been there all day.
