Parents
to Teach Their Children
Just
as Moses was charged with the responsibility to teach the law of God to the
congregation of Israel, so the congregation were charged to teach them to their
children.
“And
these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart, and you shall
teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in
your houses, and when you walk by the
way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them for a sign upon your hand,
and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes; and you shall write them upon
the posts of your house, and on your gates.
And so shall it come to pass, when the Lord your God would have brought
you into the land which He swore to your fathers Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob
to give you, great and beautiful cities which you did not build, wells of water
which you did not dig, vineyards and orange trees which you did not plant, and when
you would have eaten and are full, beware lest you forget the Lord, who brought
you forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of bondage.
