BRAGADAYJAH 221
Who other than a Law-Giver would dare make laws unilaterally
for people to follow but a Law-Giver, be he a democrat, a Despot, or in this
case a Theocrat? We know that God is
love, and has only love for his people in His heart when he makes laws and
rules for them; but we also see Him as Lord of all creation; because His laws
are not just for a piece of territory, a geographical unit, or an island; but
for the entire earth. That makes him a ruler over all the earth; that makes Him
God.
So He gave
law dealing with the legal relationship of Master and Servant; and next He gave
the first law dealing with personal injury and negligence.
“If a man
smites a man so that he dies, he shall be surely put to death. (Re-emphasizing the 6th. Commandment); but if
a man lie not in wait, but the Lord deliver him in his hand, then I will
appoint a place for him, (the manslayer) to hide. This is a reference to the
places of refuge God provided for those who kill by accident, or
unintentionally, the avenger of death and the like. But if a man comes presumptuously upon his
neighbor, to slay him with guile, (malice aforethought) thou shall take him
from mine altar that he may die.
He that
smites his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
He that steals
a man and sells him, or if he be found in his hand, that is to say if he be
caught with the stolen man before he gets a chance to sell him, he shall be put
to death.
He that
curses his father and his mother shall surely be put to death. More
