And when Moses went up to the Lord upon the mountain, the
Lord told him to go down again and charge the people, and warn them not to try
and break through the barriers to see His face; but Moses told the Lord the
barriers are in place and the people were already warned what would happen if
they tried to break through.
“Anyway,”
the Lord told Moses; “you go and make sure that none of them come upon the face
of the mountain. When you go down tell
the priests that they too should stay away and not try to come near unto me;
but when you come up again, bring Aaron only with you.” So Moses went down again and spoke to the
people.
Once God
was sure the people had been warned and re-warned, He began to speak His words
saying:
I am the
Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt ,
out of the house of bondage. (1) Thou shall have no other gods but me;
(2) Thou shall not make unto thee any
carved image, or any likeness of anything whether in heaven or earth or under
the earth; thou shall not bow down thyself to them or worship them; for I am a
jealous God; and I will visit the sins of the fathers upon their children even unto
the third and fourth generation of them that disobey me; but will show much
mercy to them who obey me and keep my commandments; (3) Thou shall not take the name of the Lord
your God in vain; for the Lord will hold those who take his name in vain
guilty; (4) Remember the Sabbath day to
keep it holy; six days you shall labor and do all your work; but the seventh
day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it thou shall not do any work,
neither you or your children, nor your servants, nor those who are within your household;
for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, the sea and all that is
in them; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day and sanctified it; (5) Honor thy father and they mother that thy
days may be long; (6) Thou shall not kill; (7)
Thou shall not commit adultery; (8) Thou shall not steal; (9) Thou shall not bear false witness against
thy neighbor; (10) Thou shall not covet anything that belongs
to your neighbor; not his wife, his goods or any thing that is his.

ten commandments, the Lord specifically gave to his people. More www.chaberbooks.com
