Seeing the host of the Egyptians, the Children of Israel
soon turned on their leader like cornered rats. “Moses,” they said, “Were there
no graves in Egypt
in that you have brought us here in the wilderness to die? Why have you betrayed us thus? Did we not tell you while we were in Egypt that you
should leave us alone? Did we not tell you we were better off serving the
Egyptians? Don’t you think it would
have been better to remain in Egyptian bondage than to come here to die?”
But Moses
said unto them, “Fear not. Just stand
still and see the salvation of the Lord what He will show you today, what He
shall do to the Egyptians; for after today they will trouble you no more. So be
still, for the Lord is fighting for you.”
At this
time the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you appealing to me? Order the children
of Israel
to go forward. But lift up your rod and stretch it out over the sea and divide
it and it shall be that the children of Israel shall go over in the midst
of it as on dry land.” More
