BRAGADAYJAH 396
Order of the Host - The adulterous
Woman
So the priest examines the
woman and she swears that she has not gone aside to commit adultery; but what
if she had? If she had gone aside to commit adultery, and thereby defile
herself, then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and
the priest shall say unto the woman, “The Lord make thee a curse among the
people, and the Lord shall make thy thigh to rot and thy belly to swell; and
this water that cause the curse shall go into your belly to make your belly to
swell, and your thigh to rot. And on hearing the pronouncement of the curse the
woman shall say, amen, amen.”
“And the priest shall write
these curses in a book, and blot them out with bitter water. And he shall cause
the woman to drink the bitter water that caused the curse and the water shall
go into her and become bitter.”
Then the priest shall take
the jealousy offering out of the woman’s hand and shall wave the offering
before the Lord and offer it upon the altar. And the priest shall take a
handful of the offering even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar
and afterwards shall cause the woman to drink the water. And after she was made
to drink the water then it shall come to pass if she be defiled and had
trespassed against her husband, that the water that caused the curse shall
enter into her and become bitter and her abdomen shall swell and her thigh
shall rot and the woman shall be a curse among the people; but if she be
undefiled, then she shall be free and may conceive. More
