BRAGADAYJAH 350
“Moreover,” said the Lord, “when a
bullock or a sheep, or a goat is brought forth, then it shall be seven days
under the dam; and from the eighth day thereafter it shall be acceptable as an
offering made to the Lord with fire. And whether it be a cow or a ewe, you must
not kill it and its young both on the same day; and when you offer a sacrifice
of thanksgiving unto the Lord, offer it of your own will. And on the same day
it shall be eaten up, and none of it shall be left unto the next day. I am the
Lord.”
“Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed
among the children of Israel; I am the Lord who hallowed you, who brought you
out of the Land of Egypt to be your Lord, I am the Lord.”
“In these instructions we see two main principles, namely: that
the Lord required all offerings to him to be cleansed by water even though they
were to be burnt by fire. This should instruct us that when we give our gift to
the Lord, it should emanate from clean hearts and clean hands. We must cleanse
ourselves and the thoughts of our heart before we can offer gifts to God which
are acceptable to Him. That sacrificial gifts to God must be motivated by love
and a free will offering. Not by coercion or a sense of legal obligation;
For example when you are told that if you don’t give the Lord will
not bless you, or that you are giving so that you will receive back with
interest, gimmicks used to generate giving, such giving is not acceptable to Almighty
God. More
