The Levites Confession
In their confession the Levites were in fact recounting the goodness of the Lord God to Israel; and so they continued to extol him as follows. “Thou didst divide the Red sea before them, and so that they went through the midst of the sea on dry land, and their persecutors were thrown in the sea as a stone in mighty waters. Moreover you led them by day by a pillar of cloud, and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give then light and guide them the way they should go. Thou came down also on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave to them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes, and commandments; and made known unto them thy holy Sabbath; and commanded them precepts, statutes and laws by the hand of Moses. You also gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought forth water out of a rock for their thirst; and promised them that they should possess the land which thou had given to them.
