Saul did not understand or could not believe what Samuel was saying to him. So he asked Samuel, “Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? What, then, do your words mean? And Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the parlor and made them sit down in the most prominent place among those who were bidden of about thirty persons. And Samuel told the cook to bring the special portion which he had earlier instructed him to set aside. And the cook took the shoulder of lamb and set it before Saul and Samuel told Saul, “Eat for this meal has been prepared for you.” And Samuel and Saul dined together that day. And the following morning Samuel went to the top of his house and invited Saul to come up to him that he may show him the word of God before he sent him away.”
