BRAGADAYJAH 703
The Lord gave Israel the land of Canaan; but even so he allowed remnants
of some nations to remain among the Israelites to prove them especially those
who did not know war in particular the wars for the conquest of Canaan. So that
the later generations of the children of Israel might know, and to teach them
war that they had not known before. The nations that were allowed to remain
among the Israelites included, five lords of the Philistines, the Canaanites,
the Sidonians, the Hittites that dwelt in Mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon
to the entrance of Hamoth. So the Lord allowed those nations to remain to prove
Israel by them to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the
Lord which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
