Absent Love
Tonight
my love, I cannot bear to think,
How
empty now my life has been.
And
little fairies, all merrily unseen,
Laugh
and jeer and mock.
Tonight
no warmth of love I feel.
No
moonlight walks and laughter.
Tonight
no kisses my lips to seal,
Nor
country frolics after.
For
now my love is far away,
And
land and sea divide us.
But
I’m hoping that some sweet day,
We’ll
find a warm togetherness.
Some
day we shall, with happy hearts and true,
Find
a new store of love, a blissful haven too!
