BRAGADAYJAH 902

BRAGADAYJAH 902
In course of time, the Philistines gathered themselves at Aphek and the Israelites pitched by a fountain in Jazreel.  And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men arched rearwards of Achish’s contingent. Soon the Philistines saw David and his men and inquired what they were doing there. And Achish told the princes of the philistines that David used to be the servant of Saul; but over the past several years, David had fallen in with him; and that he found no fault in him.  And the princes of the Philistines were upset with Achish and told him in effect that they were not comfortable going into battle with David, since it was possible that in the midst of battle he should become an adversary against them. They also reminded Achish that this David was the same David that his people sang and danced about saying, “Saul has slayed his thousands, but David his ten thousand.” Therefore, Achish called David and told him that he had found no fault in him since the day they first met; but that the lords were not comfortable with his being present.  So then he advised David, “You may depart in peace.” of course David, being David, protested that he had dealt honestly with his friend Achish, and had not done anything amiss.  But Achish told him he should leave in as much as the lords of the Philistines did not want him among them.  So even though king Achish himself had no problems with having David fight alongside him, he urged him to rise early in the morning and leave so. So David got up early the morning after and departed.

Politics and Politicians

Politics and Politicians
Politics is for Politicians, and as far as I can see,
Nothing they do is going to help you and me
Trump may be bad, but Ben Carson is worse.
Watch the way he truckling to Trump for a post.
Whoever is President, May God helps us all.
He’s our Protector Spring Summer Winter and Fall.
So not another word about politics, I am truly done.
It was good while it lasted and I did have some fun.
But to those of you putting your lives on the line?
Of course you’ll be disappointed; but for me? That’s fine.
Politics and hypocrites are the male versions of kine.
While you drink sugar water, they’ll be drinking wine.
These couplets were penned while I had other things to do

But I say goodbye my friends, May the Lord bless you too.  www.chaberbooks.com

BRAGADAYJAH 901

BRAGADAYJAH 901
Samuel, Saul and the Witch of Endor

It is evident from the previous discourses, that Samuel was already dead and buried when Saul approached the witch, while in disguise, and asked her to raise Samuel.  Firstly, the woman did not know who the stranger was. From the discourse, she initially thought it was perhaps one of Saul’s servants trying to entrap her so that she could be killed.  Because it was common knowledge that Saul had killed all known witches and the like.  So after the stranger assured her that no harm would come to her, she was prepared to do her magic; but she was totally unprepared for what she saw.  She knew that she had no powers to raise any one already in the grave; but like those who practiced her trade, she was prepared to do her hocus pocus and somehow satisfy the client and collect her fees. But to her consternation the dead Samul did rise up, and she was able to describe him to the man, whom she then realized was none other than the king, Saul himself, that sat before her. The question, is therefore, how or why did Samuel appear? Well we know that God can use any situation, any human or none human instrumentality to effect His purpose. While the witch had no intention or power to raise Samuel, God used her to raise Samuel because He had a message for Saul, just as when he used Balaam’s donkey to deliver His message to Balaam. Saul went to see a witch, God used the witch and the occasion to speak to his errant child and to tell him what thus says the Lord even by the mouth of one of his dead prophets.  For nothing is impossible with God. Of course we cannot ignore Samuel’s question to Saul, “Why has thou disquieted me?” Yes it was Saul’s action in going to the witch that resulted in Samuel being disturbed and we note also the question, “Why have you disquieted, disturbed, me from my rest?”  He might well have asked Saul why he disturbed his sleep, or why he woke him up. So we know now if we did not know before that those who departed this world in the faith and fear of the Lord were at rest until He who would be the first risen from the dead, Christ himself.www.chaberbooks.com

Samuel speaks to Saul.

And Samuel said to Saul “Why has thou disquieted me to bring me up?” And Saul said, “I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no more, neither does he answer me by prophets, nor by dreams. Therefore I call you to make known unto me what I shall do.” Then Samuel asked Saul why he was asking him if the Lord had departed from him and had become his enemy.  Samuel also told him that the Lord had taken the kingdom away from him and had given it to David, because he Saul had disobeyed the voice of the Lords in not enforcing His fierce wrath against Amalek.  That is why, Samuel explained to him, the Lord has abandoned him. Besides, Samuel told him the Lord will deliver Israel, as well as yourself into the hands of the Philistines. And when Saul heard the reply of Samuel, he fainted, because he was terrified and had not eaten all day. And he was afraid of what he had heard.  And seeing that Saul had fainted, the witch sought to revive him and spoke to him and tried to encourage him to eat, so that he might regain his strength. But Saul refused and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants along with the woman persuaded him; and the woman killed a young calf and prepared it and baked bread and gave it to Saul and he did eat. [In the next episode, we will take a closer look at this woman called the witch of Endor, what she did or did not do in response to Saul’s request to her, how and why Samuel long dead was able to appear and speak to  Saul as he evidently did.]

Saul and the Witch of Endor

Having been told about the witch of Endor, Saul disguised himself by putting on none kingly apparel and went by night to the witch, and asked her to use her powers of witchcraft to bring up the person whom he would name to her. And the woman not knowing to whom she spoke, but out of abundant caution, replied and said to him that surely he knew what king Saul had done, how he cut off from the land all who practised witchcraft and wizardry, therefore she asked the man before him, “Are you trying to entrap me to cause me to lose my life?”  And Saul swore unto her by the Lord and said, ”I swear to you that no harm shall come of you because of what you are about to do. ”S thus assured, the witch asked Saul whom was his desire to see. And Saul said bring me up Samuel.  And when the woman saw Samuel she screamed and asked Saul why he had deceived her; for she knew by seeing Samuel, that the man before her was none other than Saul himself. And Saul told her not to be afraid, but to tell him what she saw.  And she told him that she saw gods ascending out of the earth. And Saul asked her what form was he of, and she said an old man coming up and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul knew that it was Samuel. And he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed himself.

BRAGADAYJAH 898
Saul seeks a woman with a familiar spirit.

And while David dwelt with Achish in Gath, the Philistine army began to gather together to fight against Israel. And Achish told David that he would be expected to go out with him to battle. And David replied and told him that he surely know what he was capable of, whereupon Achish replied and told him that he shall be the keeper of head forever. Of course by that time Samuel was already dead and buried, and Saul had killed or banished from the land, all those who had a familiar spirits and wizardry, that is to say all who engaged in witchcraft of any kind, including fortune tellers and seers.  And the Philistines gathered themselves together and encamped at Shunem; and Saul’s army encamped themselves at Gilboa.  But when Saul saw the hosts of the Philistines, he was afraid and his heart quaked within him, and, he was greatly troubled. And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him by means of dreams or at all.  So Saul told his servants to seek out a woman that possessed a familiar spirit; that he may go to her and enquire of the Lord through her.  And his servants told him that there was a woman in a place called Endor, who had a familiar spirit.

BRAGADAYJAH 897
A moment of Sanity returns to Saul.
And when Saul heard that David had fled to Gath, he sought David no more.  And David asked Achish to give him a place in some town in the country, away from the royal city, if he had no objection. And Achish gave him a place called Ziklag an inheritance of Judah which remained so after that.   And David dwelt in the land of the Philistines for a full sixteen months. And David and his men went up and invaded the Geshurites and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites who had dwelt in the land as of old times, between the region of Shur and Egypt. And David smote the land and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen and the asses, and the camels and the apparel and returned and came to Achish.  And Achish asked him where had been, and David told him against the souls of Judah and against the south of the Jerahmeelites and against the south of the Kenites. Now David left no man or woman alive so that there were no survivors to tell about it.  And David’s report that he had campaigned against and killed Israelites pleased Achish and he offered David the opportunity of remaining with him and to be his servant forever. Because he thought David’s report that he had killed his own people Israel was true and that he was an enemy of Israel..
