BRAGADAYJAH 811

BRAGADAYJAH 811
The Lord Appeared to Samuel

And the Lord appeared and stood and called as He had done the three times before.  And when the Lord said, “Samuel, Samuel,” Samuel answered and said, “Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth.” And the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold I will do a thing in Israel at which both the ears of everyone that hears it shall tingle.” At that time I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house; when I begin I shall also make an end of it.”  “I have told him I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows because his sons made themselves vile and he restrained them not.   And therefore, I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of his house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever.”   And Samuel lay until the morning and opened the doors of the house of the Lord; and Samuel feared to show Eli the vision. Then Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel my son;” and Samuel said,  ”Here am I.”  And Eli asked him, “What is the thing the Lord said unto you? I pray thee do not hide it from me. God do so unto you and more if you hide from me anything that the Lord revealed to you.”  And so Samuel told him everything and hid not anything from him. And as Samuel grew, the Lord was with him, and let none of God’s word fall to the ground. And all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the Lord. And the Lord appeared again to Samuel at Shiloh in the house of the Lord.

In the meantime, Samuel continued to grow and minister unto the Lord before Eli.  And the word of the Lord was precious in the eyes of the people in those days. And it came to pass at that time, when Eli laid down to rest his eyes had grown dim; and Samuel also laid down to sleep.  And the Lord called Samuel and he answered, “Here am I;” and he ran to Eli and said, “here am I, I heard you call me.” And Eli said, “I did not call you; go lie down again.”  And the Lord called Samuel yet again. And Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here am I, for you called me.” And Eli told him the second time, “Go lie down for I surely did not call you.” It is clear that Samuel at that time did not know the voice of the Lord, and His word was not yet revealed to him. And the Lord called Samuel the third time and he rose and went to Eli the third time and said, “Here am I you called me.” And Eli then perceived that it was the Lord who was calling the boy; so he told him to go lie down again and if he heard his name again, he should say, “Speak Lord for thy servant heareth.”www.chaberbooks.com

BRAGADAYJAH 809

BRAGADAYJAH 809
The man of God continued to speak to Eli as follows: “Behold the day come, says the Lord, when I will cut off thine arm and the arm of thy father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house. And thou shall see an enemy in my habitation in all the wealth which God shall give Israel, and there shalt not be an old man in thy house ever. And the man of mine whom I shall cut off from mine altar shall be to consume thine eyes and to grieve thine heart, and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age. And this shall be a sign unto thee; there shall come upon thy two sons, Hophni and Phinehas that they shall die in one day. And I shall raise me up a faithful priest who will walk according to all that is in my heart, and in my mind; and I will build him a sure house and he shall walk before mine anointed forever. And it shall come to pass that everyone that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, put me I pray thee into one of the priest’s office that I might eat a piece of bread.”

The Man of God Appeared unto Eli
Now there appeared a man of God unto Eli and said to him, “The Lord says unto you, did I not plainly appear unto the house of thy father when you were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house” And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer incense on my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? And did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?  Why therefore you kick at the sacrifice and at my offering which I have commanded in my habitation; and you honor your sons above me to make yourselves fat with all the chief of all the offerings of Israel my people? Therefore the Lord God of Israel says to you, I say indeed that my house and the house of my father should walk before me forever; but now the Lord sayeth, be it far from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

BRAGADAYJAH 807

It came to pass that Eli was very old; and he heard reports of all the evil his sons had done in Israel, and how they were lying with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Eli spoke to his sons and asked them why they were behaving the way they did before the people. He told them that the reports he was hearing were not good, and ought not to be done by the people of God. He told them that if a man sins against another man, the judge shall judge him; but asked he them, “Who shall make petition for those who sin against the Lord?”  But in spite of Eli’s words of warning and rebuke to his sons, they changed not their ways, until the Lord slew them.  But in the meantime, Samuel grew and was loved both by God and man.

BRAGADAYJAH 806

And Elkanah and his wife Hannah returned to their house at Ramah, leaving the child to minister unto the Lord with Eli. Now Eli’s sons were as children of the Devil in that they knew not the Lord. There was a custom that when the people offered sacrifice, the priest’s servants came while the flesh was cooking and with a flesh hook with three prongs they inserted it in the cauldron, or pot, or frying pan; and all that the flesh hook grabbed that portion was taken for the priest. And also before the fat was burnt, the sons of Eli would appear and demand that an unburnt portion be given for the priest; and if the request was declined they would demand and take it be force. So that the young men were so out of control that many were hesitant to make offerings unto the Lord. And Samuel served before the Lord as a young boy girded with a linen ephod.  In addition Hannah made her son a little coat which she took to him each year. And Eli blessed Hannah and said, “The Lord bless thee and give thee seed for that which you have given to the Lord.”  And the Lord visited Hannah; and she bore three sons and two daughters. And Samuel continued to grow before the Lord.”

Hannah’s Song of Praise (continued)

“The Lord killeth and maketh alive; He bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and make them inherit the throne of glory; for the pillars of the earth are the Lords, and He hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of the saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength will no man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them; the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth and He shall give strength unto the king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.”
