Moses recounted further wanderings and conflicts in the wilderness.
“After remaining many days in Kadesh, we turned and took our journey into the wilderness via the Red Sea as the Lord commanded us, and the journey took several days as we compassed Mount Seir.”

Then the Lord said to me, “You have walked around this mountain long enough. Therefore turn and take your journey Northward and command the people, and tell them they are to pass through the borders of your brethren the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraid of you. Therefore be very careful.  Do not meddle with them, for I will not give you their land, not so much as an inch; for I have given Mount Seir to them for a possession. You shall buy food and water of them for money, that you may eat and drink.  For I the Lord has blessed thee in all the works of your hands; He knows your walking through that great wilderness; the Lord your God was with you and you lacked nothing”

BRAGADAYJAH 502
Moses recounted how when he had laid the offences of the children of Israel before them with regard to the affairs of the spies and their cowardly and faithless actions, whereby they had incurred God’s wrath, they had responded and said. “We have sinned against the Lord; we will go and fight according to all that the Lord our God had commanded us. And then they had girded on every man his weapons of war and they were ready to fight.”

“And the Lord said unto me”, Moses told them, “go you not up neither fight; for I am not with you,  and you would be smitten by your enemies. After I told you what the Lord had told me to tell you, you nevertheless rebelled against the Lord and went presumptuously up to fight. And the Amorites came out against you and chased you as bees do and destroyed you in Sir even all the way to Hormah. Then they returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord will not heed them nor entertain their petitions. So, therefore they abode in Kadesh for a long time.”

And to continue, Moses told them, “You did not believe the promises of the Lord your God who went in the way before you, to show you where to pitch your tent, providing fire by night to show you the way, and a cloud to protect you by day.  And the Lord heard your voice of unbelief and became angry with you and vowed, that not one of you of that evil generation should see that good land which He swore to give unto your fathers. None, that is to say, except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he shall see it; for to him and his children will I give the land that he had trodden upon, because he had wholly followed the Lord”
“In addition,” said Moses, “ the Lord was even angry with me for your sakes saying, you shall also not go in there.  But Joshua the son of Nun who stands before you, he shall go in there.  Encourage him for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.”
“Moreover, your little ones whom you said would be prey, and your children who in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in there; and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

But as for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness by way of the Red Sea.

Moses reminded them of the Ill Reports of the Spies.
The men went up into the mountain, Moses reminded them, and searched out the area around the valley of Eshcol, and there they found fruit which they took hold of and brought back word that the land was a good land, which the Lord had given them.  But they warned that we should not go up and possess it thereby rebelling against the commandment of the Lord and the congregation murmured in their tents and said that the Lord hated them, therefore, He had brought them out of the land of Egypt to deliver them into the hands of the Amorites to destroy them.  So they murmured why should we go up?  The Amorites are stronger and taller than we are; their cities are great and walled up to heaven; and in addition we have seen the sons of Anakim there.”

But I said unto you fear not.  “The Lord your God who goes before you; he shall fight for you according to as He did before your eyes in Egypt, and also in the wilderness where the Lord your God bore you, as a man bears his son, all the way wherever you went.

BRAGADAYJAH 499
While urging upon the children of Israel that they should be just in their judgments, Moses reminded them of the terrible journey they undertook from Horeb through that great and terrible wilderness as he described out, how the Lord had taken them by way of the mountain of the Amorites. And the Lord led them to Kadesh-Barnea. At that time, Moses reminded them, I told you we had arrived at the mountain of the Amorites which the Lord had given unto you.  Behold, then, the Lord your God has set the land before you,  “Go up and possess it as the Lord God of your fathers has said unto you and fear not neither be discouraged.”

But you were afraid, and you asked me to send up twelve men to spy out the land, one man from each tribe so that you would know whether it was practicable to go up against the inhabitants, and I agree and sent up twelve men

Moses, in continuing to address the host of Israel told them and said, the Lord your God has said, “Behold I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which He the Lord swore unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give unto them and their seed after them. “ And I told you earlier that I was not able to bear you myself alone. “

Now the Lord your God has multiplied you, and, behold this day you are as the stars of heaven for multitude. The Lord God of your Fathers  make you a thousand times as many more as you are, and bless you as he has promised you. So how Can I alone bear your weight and your burden and our strife?  Pick you, therefore, men of wisdom and understanding, and I will make them rulers over you.”  And you answered me and said you agreed with my suggestion.  So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, well known and made them head over you; captains over thousands, captains over hundreds, captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.  And I charged your judges at that time and told them, “Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger who is with him.  You must not respect persons in judgment, but hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid of the face of any man, for the judgment is God’s, and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it to me and I will hear it. And I commanded you at that time all the things you should do.”

BRAGADAYJAH 497
Still not having entered into the land of promise, the children of Israel remained near but yet so far away from the Promised Land. They could actually see it but could not enter thereunto because their zeal was not supported by faith. So now Moses spoke words to them. On this side of the Jordon between Paran and Tophel, and Laban and Hazeroth and Dizahab. They were only eleven days journey away from their final destination; yet they languished there for over thirty nine years.
And so it was in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month on the first day of the month that Moses addressed them as the Lord had instructed him in accordance with His Commandments

The Lord our God spoke unto us in Horeb saying, “You have dwelt long enough in this Mount. Turn, therefore, and take your journey and go to the mount of the Amorites and to all the places nearby in the plains, the hills and low country and in the South and by the seaside in the land of the Canaanites and unto Lebanon and unto the great river Euphrates.”

BRAGADAYJAH 496

BRAGADAYJAH 496

For the past several weeks we have been wading through the book of Numbers, characterized as the Book with the theme the Numbering of the Jewish Nation; but the book concerns a lot more; for much of the Book deals with the order of the hosts of Israel, years of wandering and conquests, the offerings both in terms of form and contents, the demarcation of the boundaries of the land of possession, the land of Canaan and Gilead, the division of the inheritance by families, the establishment of the Cities of Refuge, the differentiation between culpable and excusable homicide, the establishment of the office of Avenger of Death, and much more,  as well the two numberings that took place while God was preparing Moses to enter into rest with his fathers.

Also this book highlights one of the greatest Messianic prophecies in the entire Bible, namely: “I shall see him but not now, I shall behold him but not nigh; there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Seth.”

A Word about Inheritance
Now the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh of the families of the sons of Joseph, came to Moses and the elders of the children of Israel and reminded them that the Lord had commanded that the land was to be given by lot to the children of Israel, and that Moses was commanded by God to give the inheritance of Zelophehad their brother unto his daughters. But that if they were married to the sons of any of the other tribes of Israel then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of their fathers, and be put to the inheritance of the tribes from which they were received and be taken from the lot of their inheritance.
And when the Jubilee of the children of Israel shall come around then shall their inheritance be put with the inheritance of the tribe from which they had received them and so taken away from the inheritance of their fathers.

And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord and said, “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has well spoken.” This is what the Lord has commanded regarding the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, ‘let them marry to whomsoever they think best; but only to the tribe of the father of their family shall they marry, so that the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not move from the tribe; for every inheritance of the children of Israel shall remain within the inheritance of Israel.  And every daughter who possesses an inheritance shall marry only to a member of one of the tribes of Israel in order to keep the inheritance.

BRAGADAYJAH 494
Once the congregation acquits the slayer and returns him to the city of refuge, he is safe there until after the life time of the priest; but if during that time he leaves the sanctuary of the city of refuge, and he is encountered by the avenger of blood outside of the borders of the city and the avenger of blood kills him, then the avenger shall not be guilty of blood; because the slayer should have remained within the place of the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest, after which he could return without hurt to the land of his possession.
Whosoever kills any person, shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.  In addition no ransom shall be taken as punishment in lieu of the penalty of death; the murderer shall be put to death.  Neither any ransom should be taken for any man-slayer who has fled to the city of refuge in order that he should return to dwell in the land until after the death of the priest.

The children of Israel were also ordered that the land of their possession would be polluted by blood which is shed in the course of murder which blood could only be purged by the blood of the murderer, by which means only the land could be cleansed of innocent blood.

BRAGADAYJAH 493
Manslaughter and Murder Differentiated
If a man strikes another with an instrument of iron and he dies, that man is a murderer and she shall surely be put to death
If a man strikes another by throwing a stone that man by means of which he may die and he does die, that man is a murderer and he shall surely be put to death.
If a man strikes another with a hand held weapon or a piece of wood and he dies, the striker is guilty of murder and he shall be put to death.
The Avenger of Blood himself shall slay the murderer, when he meets him. But even so if the Avenger of Blood shall kill the murderer through hatred or spite, or if he lays waits him and kills him with malice, he then becomes a murderer and the avenger of blood would then kill him.

But if the avenger of blood kills the man slayer suddenly without malice or if he throws something and hits him with anything such as a stone there being no enmity between them, nor meant him any harm, then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood, in accordance with these ordinances.  And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hands of the avenger of blood and the congregation shall restore him to the city of refuge to which he was fled and he shall remain there until the death of the high priest who has been anointed.

BRAGADAYJAH 492
The Cities of Refuge
The Lord commanded that among the forty eight cities which He had commanded to give unto the Levites, were to be included six cities of refuge. These were places specifically set aside for the man slayer who had accidentally killed a man.  All the cities assigned to the Levites were forty eight; but these six cities were cities of refuge to which a man may seek refuge if he accidentally killed someone.
Further the Lord instructed Moses to command the children of Israel that when they took possession of the promised land, they should designate cities of refuge for the mans layer to flee to in case he unintentionally killed a man.
These cities of refuge were to be cities of refuge from the avenger of death that the man slayer could not be killed while he was in the city of refuge until he had an opportunity of standing before the congregation in judgment.

Of the six cities given for refuge, the Lord commanded that three be on one side of the Jordan and three on the other side.  And these six cities of refuge were to provide refuge from the avenger of death, to the Israelites, the stranger, and the sojourner among them; for everyone that kills accidentally could take refuge there.

The Levites Forty Eight Cities
God also commanded Moses to command the children of Israel to give unto the Levites forty eight cities to dwell in the land of possession, and also pasture lands for the cities surrounding them for their cattle and their livestock and their goods. The extent of the pasture lands was to be outward from the city wall a thousand cubits round about.

More particularly, God commanded them to measure from outside the city all on the East side two thousand cubits, on the South side two thousand cubits, on the West side to thousand cubits and on the North side two thousand cubits with the city in the center. And the area thus demarcated shall be the pasture land of the Levites.

BRAGADAYJAH 490
Now as the children of Israel prepared to enter upon the promised land the Lord continued to instruct Moses concerning firstly, the borders and boundaries of the inheritance, and secondly those who were entitled to inherit, and reminding him that the tribes of Reuben and Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh had already opted to remain on the side they were on, being the side of the Jordan eastward of Jericho, and so, therefore, would be excluded from a share in the land of Canaan.
So God showed Moses, if he did not already know, God knows the name of all his children.
Those who would share the land when it was conquered were:

Firstly, God appointed, those who were to be in charge of the sharing, namely, Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, together with one prince from every tribe. And of the names of the men there were, Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, and of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel, the son of Ammihud; of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad, he son pf Chislon; the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan Kukki the son of Jogli; the prince of the children of Joseph, for the tribe of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel, the son of Ephod; the prince of the children of the tribe of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of shiphtan; of the prince of the children of the tribe of Zebulun, Elizaphan, the son of Parnach; the prince of the tribe of the children of Issachar, Paltiel, the son of Azzan; the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud, the son of Shelomi; and the prince of the tribe of the children of Naphtali, Pedahel, the son of Ammihud.  These were the princes whom the Lord commanded to share the inheritance.

Demarcation of the Borders of the land of Israel
The Lord spoke to Moses and showed him what were to be the borders of the land which the Lord was giving them for a possession.

The South quarter was from the wilderness of Zin along be the border of Edom, and the South border from the far end of the Salt Sea Eastward, and it shall turn from the South and ascend unto Akrabbim and pass on to Zin, and going on from there South to Kadesh-barnea and then unto Hazzaraddar, and pass on to Azmon.  And the border shall go around from Azmon unto the river of Egypt and the termination of it shall be the sea.  And the Western border shall be the Great Sea.  And on the North, from the Great Sea you shall mark out Mount Hor as your border and from Mount Hor you shall mark out for your border the entrance of Hamath and the end of the border shall be at Zedad.  And the border shall go on to Ziphron and the termination of it shall be at Hazar-enan which shall be the northern border. And the East border shall be from Hazar-enan to Shepham. And the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain, and the border shall descend and reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward. And the border shall go down to the Jordan and the end of it shall be at the Salt Sea, all of this was to be your land and the borders of it.

BRAGADAYJAH 488

Law of Possession of the Land.
Now the Lord told Moses to tell the children of Israel, that when they would have passed over Jordan, to possess the land of Canaan which he had promised to give to them, they should drive out all the inhabitants of the land before them, they should destroy all their stone idols, their melted images, and demolish all their high places.
That they should dispossess the inhabitants of the land; for he had given it to them.
Then the land was to be divided up by lots for an inheritance based on the numerical size of each family, so that the larger family should get more and the smaller family should get less; and every man’s inheritance should be in accordance with  where he falls in their father’s family line.

However, the Lord told Moses, if they should fail to drive out the inhabitants then those who they allowed to remain shall vex them; they shall be like barbs in their eyes and thorns in their sides in the land of their possession; and besides, said the Lord, “I shall do unto you as I thought to do unto them,”

BRAGADAYJAH 487

After hearing Reuben and Gad and after their pledge to him, Moses called Eleazar the priest and Joshua and the princes of the congregation and told them of the promises of Reuben and Gad to go forward with them to conquer Canaan, and his promise to them to let them built cities for their wives and children and stockyards for their flocks and having secured them to join the rest of the army to go over Jordan every man armed for battle to fight the battle of the Lord in order to conquer the promised land,  He also told them that after a successful campaign then Reuben and Gad were to have the land of Gilead for their possession.  But if they choose not to go over to war they would  have possession among them in the land of Canaan.
At Moses’ words Reuben and Gad once again pledged their determination with regard to remaining in the land of Gilead, but also would go over armed to fight with the rest of Israel.
Moses gave unto Reuben and Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the Kingdom of Sihon, King of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, King of Bashan, all that land and the cities thereof, and all the borders round about. And so Gad and Reuben and Manasseh built many cities round about.

Rueben and Gad asked Moses for them to settle in Gilead.
Now it came to pass that both Reuben and Gad each had an abundance of cattle and as they journeyed through the land of Gilead, still on the other side of the Jordon, beheld that the land was good for raising cattle and so they approached Moses and sought his permission for them to settle in the land of Gilead
Moses responded by pointing out there was still a war to be fought and a journey to complete before they crossed the Jordon and possess the land that God had promised them, and for which they had labored during the last forty years,
He also reminded them of the treachery of the spies whom he had sent to spy out the land and how they had returned and made evil reports such as to weaken the hearts of  children of Israel, they  that is except Caleb and Joshua and how the Lord had caused them to perish on the journey by the way.  Therefore, Moses wanted to know if their intention was to abandon their fellows before the journey was over.
On hearing this Rueben and Gad vowed that their intention was only to secure a home for their cattle and their little ones; but that once they had built fortified cities for their protection, they would take sword in hand and continue with the rest of the company until they crossed over the Jordon and possess the land.
Then Moses accepted their offer but on the condition that they kept their promise less as he put it their sins should find them out.

Now just to understand the magnitude of the conquest and the greatness of the battle, that was fought and won, let us look at the size of the booty.
There were six hundred and seventy five thousand sheep, seventy two thousand oxen, sixty one thousand asses, thirty two thousand persons comprising the women who were chaste and young girls. This beside the gold and silver and precious metals comprised the booty seized, not by any means a small amount.

Thereafter, the captains who were over the thousands of the host and the captains of hundreds, came to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and told them that they had counted all the men over which they had charge and that not one man had been lost. Therefore they said, they brought an oblation to the Lord as every man has gotten of jewels of gold, chains, bracelets, rings and earrings, and necklaces to make an atonement for their souls before the Lord.  And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the jewelry and they offered it up unto the Lord, all of which came to sixteen thousand seven hundred shekels as a memorial for the children of Israel.

Now after the men of war had cleansed themselves and returned into the camp, the Lord commanded Moses and told him to count the amount of the spoils of war, both human and beast and together with Eleazar the priest and the chiefs of the congregation, divide it up into two parts; one part for the men who went out to battle and the other to the rest of the congregation. And of each share, Moses was instructed to take a levy unto the Lord, one five hundredth part per share for Eleazar the priest. for him to use as a heave offering unto the Lord; and of the children of Israel’s half one portion of fifty and for Eleazar the priest for keeping the tabernacle of the Lord. And Moses and Eleazar did as the Lord had commanded them.

One More Thing
Having told Moses he was about to be rested and given a number of final tasks to perform, the Lord had one final thing for Moses to do. “Avenge the children of Israel of the Medianites, and after that you shall be gathered unto your people.”  And Moses told the people,  “arm yourself as unto war and go against the Medianites and avenge the Lord of Median.  Each tribe shall consist of a thousand men;” so there went out to war twelve thousand armed men of war. And accompanying them was Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest with the holy instruments and the trumpet to blow in his hand. And the men of war of Israel slew all the men of Median as the Lord instructed Moses and they slew five of the Kings of Median including Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.
And the children of Israel captured all of the women and children, and took them captives, as well as all the goods of the Medianites, and burnt all their cities. And all their encampments with fire. And they brought all the captives and all their goods and all the spoils to Moses and Eleazar and the congregation of Israel unto their encampment by the plains of Moab which is by the Jordon near Jericho.
And as the armies of Israel drew near to the camp, Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the princes of Israel went out to meet them outside of the camp. And Moses was angry with the leaders of the hosts and Moses asked them, “Have you saved all the women alive?  Are these not of the same women which caused the children of Israel to sin before the Lord in the matter of Peor, when the Lord sent a plague among the congregation.  Now, therefore commanded Moses, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that has ever known a man and spare only the little girls that have never lain with a man, them you may keep for yourselves.
And all of you, continued Moses who has killed a man or touched any dead body, remain outside the camp seven days and purify yourself and your captives. On the third day and on the seventh day, purify all your clothes and all your goods made of animal skin or hair and every things made of wood.”
And Eleazar told the men of war, “the commandment of the Lord is that only such things like gold and silver, iron and lead and anything that can pass through the fire shall you bring into the camp.

And after you would have washed your clothes and purified yourself and all things with you, then you can enter the camp on the seventh day.”

Vows of Widows and Divorced Persons
Every vow of a widow and she that is divorced wherewith she has bound her soul shall stand against her. And if she vowed in her husband’ s house or bound her soul by a bond with an oath, and her husband heard it and held his peace with her, and disallowed her not, then all her vows shall stand and every bond by which she has bound herself shall stand. And if her husband had utterly made them void the day when he first heard them, then whatever she said concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand. Her husband has made them void and the Lord will forgive her.
Every vow and every biding oath to afflict her soul her husband may establish, it and her husband may void it. But if her husband altogether holds his peace from day to day then he establishes her vows, or all her bonds which she made because he heard them on the day they were made and held his peace thereby establishing them. But if he shall in any way make them void after he has heard them and has kept silent, then he shall bear her iniquity.

These are the statutes which the Lord commanded Moses between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.

BRAGADAYJAH 481
Following upon the seven days of feasting, there was decreed a solemn assembly on the eight day, in which no work was to be done; but burnt offerings were to be offered up consisting of a bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year, together with the meal and drink offering as per the first day, and also a sin offering of a kid of the goats.
And Moses spoke all the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel and told that this was what the Lord had commanded. And if a man vows a vow unto the
Lord, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word he shall do according to all that came out of his moth. And if a woman also makes a vow unto the Lord to bind herself to a bond being in her father’s house in her youth, and her father hears her vow and her bond wherewith she has bound her soul, and her father holds his peace with her, then all her vows shall stand; and every bond wherewith she has bound herself shall stand. But if her father disallows it in the day he hears it, not any of her vows or her bonds wherewith she has bound her soul shall stand; and the Lord will forgive her because her father had disallowed it. And if she had at all a husband when she vowed or uttered anything out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul  and her husband heard it and held his peace at the time, then her vows shall stand and the bonds wherewith she has bound her soul shall stand. But if the husband hears it and disallows it at the same time, then her vows and her bonds shall be of no effect and the Lord will forgive her.  More

BRAGADAYJAH 480
The first day of the seventh month was a holy convocation upon which burnt offerings, meal and drink offerings were offered unto the Lord, followed by the same offerings on the tenth day of the same month. Likewise the fifteenths day of the month was also a day upon which a holy convocation was mandated; but the quantity of the offering was quite different; for instead of one bullock now thirteen bullocks were to be offered instead of one ram, two rams instead of seven lambs fourteen lambs for a burnt offering.
The meal offering was flour mixed with oil as before, with exception being three tenth past to each of the thirteen bullocks and two tenth part of each of the two rams and one tenth part to each of the fourteen lambs. The sin offering was the same one kid of the goats.
On the second day, that is to say on the 16th day, the offering was twelve young bullocks, two rams and fourteen lambs with the meal and drink offerings, and the kid of the goats for a sin offering.
On the third day, the 17th day, the bullock offering was 11, with the same number of rams and lambs with the meal offering, the drink offering and the sin offering the  same.

On the fourth day, the bullock offering was 10 with the rams and lambs and the meal and drink offering and the sin offering the same. On the fifth day, nine bullock all other offerings the same; on the sixth day 8 bullocks, all other offerings the same and on the seventh day seven bullocks, the number of rams, lambs, meal offering, drink offering and sin offering the same as on the fifteenth day.

The Seventh Month Offering
The first day of the seventh month was set aside as a holy convocation wherein there was to be no servile work. It is also a day for blowing of the trumpet unto the people. In it a sweet offering unto the Lord was to be offered; a burnt offering consisting of one bullock, one ram and seven lambs of the first year, all without spot or blemish. BRAGADAYJAH 476

BRAGADAYJAH 476
Although Moses’ end was near, God still had work for him to do; because after he was gone, the work and the commandments of the Lord had to be carried on.
So the Lord commanded Moses to instruct the children of Israel concerning the offerings. Say unto the children of Israel God told him,
“My offerings and my bread for my sacrifice made by fire, for a sweet savor unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season. “

“Say unto them, this is the offering made by fire unto the Lord:  2 lambs of the first year without spot day by day for a continual burnt offering; one lamb shall thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb thou shall offer at evening; and a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meal offering, mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil. For a drink offering for the meal and burnt offering was to be a fourth part of a hin of strong wine poured out in the holy place for a drink offering unto the Lord for the morning offering,  and the same amount of meal and drink offering for the evening offering.

BRAGADAYJAH 475

BRAGADAYJAH 475
Moses told by God to Prepare for his Death
And now God old Moses, “Get up and get going, and go up to the Mountain Abarim and from there you shall see the land which I have given to the children of Israel. And when you shall see it you shall be gathered unto the people as Aaron your brother was gathered. For you rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin in the strife of the congregation to sanctify me in the water before their eyes, that is to say in the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.”
And Moses said to the Lord, “Let the Lord the God of the spirit of all flesh, set a man over the congregation. A man who may go out before them, and go in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may lead them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep without a shepherd.”
And the Lord said unto Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit and lay thy hands upon him. And set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation and give him a charge in their sight.”
“And you shall put some of your honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest who shall ask counsel of him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord. At his word shall they go out, and at his word shall they come in, both he and all the congregation of the children of Israel.”

And Moses did as the Lord commanded; he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the congregation of Israel; and Moses laid his hand upon Joshua and charged him as the Lord commanded him.

BRAGADAYJAH 374

BRAGADAYJAH 474
And after that, God instructed Moses and Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest and told them to number all the young men of Israel from the age of twenty years old and upwards who were able to go to war.
And Moses and Eleazar spoke to the people in the plains of Moab by the Jordon near Jericho saying, “Take the sum of the people from twenty years old and upwards as the Lord commanded Moses.  And all the people were numbered by their families and the sum of all of them were 601, 730, a number which did not include any of those whom Moses and Aaron had numbered when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai; for the Lord had said, they shall surely die in Sinai and not one of them was left of them save Caleb and Joshua.
After that the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh of the family of Manasseh the son of Joseph, whose names were, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah, lodged a complaint before Moses and Eleazar and the whole congregation of Israel, saying, “Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them who had gathered themselves against the Lord in the company of Korah, but died in his own sins and had no sons. Why therefore should the name of our father be done away with because he had no sons? Give us, therefore, a possession among the brethren of our father.”
Therefore, Moses brought their cause before the Lord.  And the Lord old Moses, that the daughters spoke rightly. “Therefore thou shall give them the possession of their father among his brethren and you must make sure his possession passes to them.”

“Therefore speak unto the children of Israel and tell them that henceforth if a man dies and has no son, then his inheritance shall pass to his daughter; and if he has no daughter his inheritance goes to his brothers; and if he has no brothers then his inheritance should pass to his father’s brothers; and if his father has no brothers then his possession shall pass to his kinsman who is next to him of his family.  And this shall be a law forever. “

BRAGADAYJAH 473

BRAGADAYJAH 473
And the Lord spoke unto Moses and told him that Phinehas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, had turned his wrath away from the children of Israel, because of his zeal in dealing with the man of Israel and the Medianitish woman for the Lord’s sake, that his anger against Israel had been abated and he would not consume them in his wrath.
Therefore, said the Lord, I give unto him my covenant of peace.  And he shall have it and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
It happened that the name of the Israelite man who had sinned with the Medianitish woman and was slain by Phinehas was Zimri the son of Salu a prince of a chief house of the Simeonites; and the name of the Medianitish woman was Cozbi the daughter of Zur who was head over a people and a chief house in Median.
So the Lord told Moses, to vex the Medianites and smite them; for they vex you with their wiles wherein they have beguiled Israel in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi the daughter of the prince of Median their sister who was slain by Phinehas in the matter of the plagues
